Gustav: The New HIGH END Gym in Amsterdam Zuidas
'Get Fit For Life, Not Just For Summer'
This past week I attended the Opening Party of Gustav Gym in Amsterdam Zuidas. It was a great evening and I met some amazing people doing great things in the health and fitness world in Amsterdam. This new gym is kitted out with everything you need for a great workout experience.
Upon entering the gym, my eyes were immediately drawn to the boxing area which was lit with a subtle purple glow. Yes, I like to box, and when I mean box I don't mean boxercise, I mean BOX! Wraps, gloves, bags, pads....the lot. Yes...this was my kind of gym! The rest of the space consists of an exercise class area, machine weights, free weights and cardio machines. You'll find me in either the 'Hard Zone' or the 'Cave' however they also have a 'Soft Zone' for cardio or lighter weights. The gym is nicely spaced out and use the high quality Techno Gym brand for the weighted machines. There is also a bar area for your post workout protein shake, coffee or fresh juice and even a DJ area! The space is split on different levels and the water feature in the reception creates an ambiance of wellness and relaxation.
Situated on the ground floor of the newly built Mahler 900 building, just off George Gershwinlaan in Amsterdam Zuidas. Gustav's has a light and spacious feel and the modern stylish design makes you feel like you are in a trendy New York district.
There are three type of membership package:
- Gustav Member - Independent training and unlimited access to the gym.
- Personal Training only - only able to access the gym when accompanied by your personal trainer.
- Combined Deals - Unlimited gym access and with your desired frequency of personal training.
I have met most of the personal trainers at Gustav and was lucky enough to have a 1:1 training session with Gijs. Now let's just say I am very picky when it comes to personal trainers! I also have my own way of training so it's great when you can find someone who is onboard with that and teaches you some new training techniques. Technique and form is something these guys find very important and it's great to see that. Injury prevention is also so important when training. It is all about how you lift not how heavy! They also promote being healthy all year around and not just for the 'Summer Bikini Body' which I find so irritating. You will be in good hands with any one of the trainers here and thats something coming from a Physiotherapist!
