Jilla - Sweat Now, Shine Later!
Jilla is a London based activewear brand that has designed seamless functional pieces. Their garments are simple but elegant and one of the most comfortable that I have ever worn! I'm especially a fan of their leg warmers, which are great for keeping me warm while cycling the streets of Amsterdam this Autumn.
A circular knitting technique is used to create the seamless items made with an Italian Santoni knitting machine. Some items are made from bamboo fabric which has become more popular in activewear recently. Each piece is made in a family run factory with high standards of working conditions. As the clothing pieces have no seams there is no irritation to the skin and a greater freedom of movement from the material.
The bamboo fabric used is OEKO-TEX standard 100 approved which guarantees it is free from harmful substances to the skin. Bamboo is more absorbent than cotton and also has anti-bacterial qualities, so great for those more intense workouts! The bamboo is grown in a sustainable way, does not require any pesticides, fertilisers or herbicides and is fast growing so can be replenished quickly. Bamboo plants also absorb more than 5 x the amount of carbon dioxide and produce 35% more oxygen than similar trees.
These pieces are great to wear to your Pilates class, out to lunch with friends or even to work! Great for those active women who go from work to an exercise class and then onto a social event. The fabric is lightweight, breathable, soft against the skin and they fit well without feeling restrictive. I wish all of my activewear was as soft as my Jilla bamboo pieces!
