"Wat de pot CHEFT": Amsterdam's latest 'Pop Up' Restaurant by Your Event Planners

About 'Wat de pot CHEFT'

Last week I was lucky enough to attend the first 'Pop-up Restaurant' event hosted by Your Event Planners. The concept was put together by three friends, Walifa, Stijn and Tobias, who wanted to organise some amazing events in Amsterdam. These range from celebrations, parties, tournaments, corporate events and the Pop-Up restaurant.

'Wat de pot Cheft' comes from a Dutch saying 'Eten wat de pot schaft' which means to 'eat what is served'...no complaining. So, there is no choice in the food, everyone eats the same dish at the same time. There will be different themes at each pop-up event, to cater to vegans, vegetarians, dairy free, gluten free etc.

So who is cooking?

The surprise of the night was when the Chef was introduced to the guests, everyone got a shock to find out that he was only 16! Also, he already works at the Michelin Star restaurant Rijks, located at the Rijksmuseum and has appeared on the popular TV program 'Junior Chef'. It's so great to see children of that age living in an adults world and working hard to make their dreams come true. I wish him all the best with his career! As you can see by the pictures, the food not only looked amazing but trust me it tasted great too!

But what was on the Menu Chef?

Starter:

Mackerel with Beetroot, Yuzu, Horseradish and Wasabi

Main:

Pork belly with caramelised Sauerkraut and Butter, served with a fresh Salad and Dauphinoise Potatoes

Dessert:

Profiteroles with Passionfruit, Cream and Caramel

I had a great time at the YEP's pop-up event and loved all the food served. The pop-up events will be happening monthly, so hopefully I will see you at the next one! One of the best things is that the meal is only €22.50, so its well worth the money! To keep up to date with future events, go and follow their Facebook Page at: www.facebook.com/watdepotCHEFT
