Amsterdam's New Greener Hair Salon

The Building Green Dutch opened on the Haarlemmerdijk, Amsterdam in February 2017. It is the sister salon to The Building AMS located on the Stadionweg. It's a space where they combine their love for hair and and the planet. Everything you will come across in the salon is as clean and green as possible, from the organic cookies to the bottles of shampoo. The have partnered with Dutch haircare brand Keune, who have developed an environmentally friendly product range called 'So Pure'. It is a vegan range made with 100% pure plant extracts.

Green Is The New Black

It's good to see that hair salons are becoming more environmentally conscious. The salon was designed using as many recycled materials as possible. They also serve a wide range of organic juices, coffee and tea for you to enjoy whilst getting pampered. The chairs for washing hair are super comfortable and don't require you to do neck gymnastics in order to not get water dripping down your neck/face. Have a look at their Instagram account @thebuildinggreendutch for inspirational pictures.

My Hair Cut

It had been over 8 months since I had last had a trim, so I was well over due. I had the pleasure of Destina cutting and styling my hair. She was very thorough with cutting and took her time. She blow dried it with loose waves and used a serum to stop any frizz or fly aways. My hair looked great and I was glad to get rid of those dead ends! It was nice to be in a hair salon that didn't feel like they were trying to squeeze in as many clients as possible. Often I find because my hair is so long, hairdressers struggle to keep within their time slot and finish my hair well which can lead to a stressed feeling for both myself and the hair dresser. The atmosphere in the salon was friendly and relaxed which was right up my street.

I can't wait to go back the next time a need a blow dry or cut, maybe I will see you there!
