Yumeko: Organic Bedding For Those Who Dream With Their Eyes Open
About That Healthy Life
Being health conscious does not just involve the food you eat and how often you exercise. A healthy life encompasses all aspects of your life, food, work, clothing, household goods and more. So, if you eat organically why would you not also want to buy organic clothing or bedding? There are less organic sustainable brands out there for buying bedding, but did you know that Amsterdam is lucky enough to have one on its doorstep?! But do any of you know the company? Let me introduce you to Yumeko.
The word Yumeko is from the Japanese word 夢 (yume) "dream" combined with 子 (ko) "child". Yumeko was set up to provide eco-friendly and organic bedding to the Netherlands and is now expanding further into the rest of Europe. The founders realised there was a big gap in the market for organic bedding, which was also stylish and modern. The bedding is practical and super comfy, which is the most important thing when it comes to getting a good nights sleep. They sell a wide range of products to suit everyones needs, from sheets and pillowcases, quilts and quilts to mattresses and mattress toppers. Also, they sell lovely home comfort items like wool throws, cotton nightwear, cosy dressing gowns and hand made slippers. Everything you need to make your bedtime as relaxing as possible.
Yumeko searched the world for the most beautiful and durable natural materials to ensure top quality at a fair price. All products are organic and / or fair trade certified and have passed their rigorous selection process. You will not only feel the difference, but you can also make a difference by purchasing from Yumeko. All of their honest and eco-friendly products are specially made by craftsmen in India, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Austria, Turkey and Peru.
'With every stitch and every thread we aim to create change. To make the industry a little cleaner. And your home a little softer.'
'So keep dreaming. Small dreams. Big dreams. Impossible dreams. Your dreams.'
The GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification ensures that their cotton and wool are purely organic. The entire chain, from cotton plants and sheep to duvet and comforter, meets the strictest organic standards. You can be sure that they are produced organically from the farm to your bedroom.
The Fair-trade certification guarantees that the cotton farmers and craftsmen who make their products are paid fair wages. They get a pension and health insurance and work normal working hours. Women are treated the same as men in the cotton cooperatives, from voting rights to equal pay.
My Organic Bed
I chose some new cotton satin sheets for my bed in white. They are lovely and soft but yet breathable due to the 300 thread count, perfect for the warmer and humid summer months. There is nothing better than sliding into bed with fresh organic cotton sheets! I can't wait to get some more!
