Need A Better Way To Get Over Your Jet-Lag? Why Not Try Some Acupuncture...

What Is Jet Lag?

Jet lag occurs when our body's natural daily circadian rhythm becomes disrupted, due to the crossing of time zones during long airplane flights. The symptoms may last from 1 to 10 days, and range from fatigue, insomnia, headache, oedema, nausea, irrational behaviour, mental confusion, and disorientation. We have all been there, I remember my flight flying from Bermuda back to the U.K. The flight leaves Bermuda around 8pm at night and arrives in London around 6.30 am. I'm not one for anything more than a quick dose on a plane, so basically its that typical 'Red Eye' flight and no sleep. Not only that, from London it takes me another 5 hours to get back to my hone town up north, so by that time after changing numerous trains with my heavy bags I'm done for. I also someone who needs a good 8 hours a night so it takes me a while to catch back up. Luckily I don't have to fly long-haul often, but I feel for those of you that do need to for work purposes.

How can Acupuncture help?

Acupuncture can assist your body clock to re-adjust to the new time zone and to get a good deep nights sleep when you arrive at your destination. It also helps to ease tension and releases endorphins which put your body into a more calm and relaxed state. Try to drink plenty of water on the flight and avoid alcohol as much as possible on long-haul flights. You want to schedule your acupuncture appointment within 24 hrs of arriving, so make sure you don't wait until you land to make an appointment.

Enjoy your travels!
