Buddakan NYC: An Experience For All Your Senses.

Buddakan NYC

About Buddakan NYC.

The Meat Packing District is my favourite neighbourhood in NYC, a stones throw away from Chelsea and the Chelsea Market. Next to the Chelsea Market is this little gem, Buddakan. The outside of this restaurant is nothing special, and its easy to completely walk past the entrance if you do not know where you are going. Buddakan is a popular hangout of New York's rich and famous and it's easy to see why one you step inside the door. The interior design is something special in itself, I'm sure it's not to everyones taste, some may say over the top glitz, but I always enjoy experiencing something a little different.  The food is a a mix of New American and Asian cuisine and I can assure you there is something for everyone to enjoy here, whether you are a meat eater, vegetarian or vegan. The combination of decor and exotic food will make you feel as if you have been transported into a magical world that stimulates each one of your senses.

Here are some of my recommended dishes:

Dim Sum

Edamame Dumplings with shallot-sauternes broth

Crispy Cauliflower Lollipops with truffle, sweet rice and cheese

Cold Appetisers

Spicy Yellowtail Yu Sheng with smoked chilli and pineapple

Hot Appetisers

Chilli Rock Shrimp with toasted ginger and pineapple

Noodles

Wild Mushroom Chow Fun with garlic and chives

Rice

Chinese Sausage Fried Rice with soft poached egg

Vegetables

Snow Peas with wild mushrooms and smoked bacon

Spiced Eggplant and Tofu with oven dried pineapple and cashews

Meat

Mongolian Lamb Chops with crystallised ginger crust

Fish

Cantonese Steamed Sole with ginger, scallion oil and soy sauce

Black Bean Scallops with Chinese bacon, shiitake mushrooms and Shishito peppers

Poultry

I thoroughly enjoyed my whole experience at Buddakan and it's on my list of restaurants to go back to the next time I am in NYC. I'm working on a few other NYC restaurant reviews so if you are planning a trip to the city soon keep your eyes open for more of my favourite places to visit. Enjoy your food!
