About ANNAMARIAANGELIKA
ANNAMARIAANGELIKA is a slow fashion clothing brand created by Berlin based sustainable fashion designer Julia Müller. Julia visited Peru to find out more about their traditional knitting and weaving techniques. Peru is famous for their unique knitwear and fabric making. She discovered the soft alpaca wool and creative designs of the Peruvian artisans and decided to create a slow fashion label inspired by Peru, that treats the people and nature with respect. All of the items are hand made in Peru by local artisans sand locally collected alpaca wool and the designs represent the nature seen in the local areas, the beautiful mountains and fields found in Peru. Each piece is designed to last for a long time rather than just one season.
The Designs
Each new design Julia creates becomes a permanent part of her collection, not just there for a season. I selected one her her beautiful Alpaca sweaters called Maras Lights and am so happy with it. Have a read of this wonderful description of the jumper and colours.
“Imagine this. You look up, soft blue sky. To your left and right, the rusty brown of bold layers of clay and stone offers a warm embrace. And there it lies in front of you: The place of the white gold as the Incas used to call it.
Alpaca sweater Maras goes to this magical place with you. Water runs from a small subterranean stream into dozens and dozens of little coppery pools, many of them crusted with various shades of shimmery crystals that reflect the Peruvian sun right back into the sky. It’s salt. White, light brown and soft pink. Welcome to a place that dates back to ancient times and is still in use today.
Sweater Maras is not only made from very soft alpaca wool, it also tells the story of indigenous people of Peru, to their traditions, their land and nature´s magical beauty at the foot of the Andes.”
The sweater is super comfy and the natural tones compliment my hair and complexion so well. I got a size a little larger than I usually wear but I love the oversized feel in the Winter time. It also looks great with a white shirt underneath and I pair it with my favourite one for work sometimes. I know I will have this sweater in my wardrobe for a long time and will look forward to wearing it every time! Hopefully next year I can add another piece from the ANNAMARIAANGELIKA collection.
